SPECIAL EDITION: TERROR IN PARIS

Will the "CBS Eye" be closed to this obvious and vitally important question?
Late on Friday the 13th, nightmarish terror struck the city of Paris - reminding us all, as if we needed reminders, that in the modern world no place is safe from the insanity of Islamic radicalism.

Ironies abound; earlier in the day (before the slaughter began) Barack Obama was interviewed by ABC News and said of ISIS "We have contained them." Just as disturbing, B. Hussein increased pressure to bring thousands of Syrian refugees into the United States at an accelerated pace, even though the majority of them are men of military age who cannot possibly be vetted to make sure they don't have terrorist connections or leanings.

This is important. One of the Paris attackers was identified as a "Syrian refugee" based on the blood-spattered passport found amidst the shrapnel of his body after he detonated a bomb vest.

And speaking of ironies, there was this...

While the horrorific events were unfolding, Obama took to the airwaves to say that terror is a bad thing and that we'd stand with France. But will we?

Following the Charlie Hebdo terrorist massacre in Paris earlier this year, Obama said much the same thing. But when world leaders gathered to march arm-in-arm to stand against terror, the United States president was nowhere to be seen...

But shortly thereafter, Obama took action to show that he was really, really, really sincere about standing with France and standing up to terrorism. Specifically, he gave his Secretary of State a very important mission...

Clearly, the deployment of "Folksong Team Six" didn't dissuade Islamic radicals from committing new acts of barbarism, perhaps because the sorry spectacle showed the utter lack of seriousness and credibility of this president's anti-terror policies.

France is already taking strong measures to root out those responsible for the attacks on their people. We can only hope that their efforts will be successful, and further hope that our own nation will someday show leadership instead of lip service in the radical war against western civilization.

TGI Friday the 13th

Of all the cover-ups associated with Hillary, we're least concerned with the one which (according to recent but unverified reports) may be covering up her scabrous, eczema covered noggin.

Then again, if Hillary is wearing a wig, it might well flip when she finds out that the FBI has expanded their investigations into her email abuses and possibly criminal activities.

On an unrelated note, even though it is Friday the 13th today, Hope n' Change feels like we owe you a little eye bleach after the image above. And so we present...

Hope n' Change isn't normally superstitious by nature but we're forced to make today's post somewhat short owing to an unusual run of time-consuming circumstances that we'll blame on Friday the 13th (since we can't credibly blame the evil rich, vicious police officers, white privilege, or a vast Right Wing conspiracy.)

Within the past 24 hours, we've encountered thousands of dollars in new home repair bills, the need to immediately replace a defunct computer (and ship it via Fed-Ex's "money is no object" option which is usually only used for transplantable organs), and a blown water pump in our 22 year old car. And mind you, all of this happened while our ongoing (and completely unsuccessful) search for affordable (ha!) health insurance has been sapping our time and sanity.

Worst of all, we discovered that it was already too late to register the Internet domain name "PoopSwastika.com," which we had really hoped to re-sell for big bucks to either Black Lives Matter or a heavy metal band.

Hope n' Change has no explanation for this odd run of bad luck because we haven't walked under any ladders, broken any mirrors, or crossed paths with a black cat. Then again, maybe there's a half-black cat in Washington who is cross with us.

BONUS: SAFE AND SOUND

Although students are demanding that campuses become a "safe space" where they'll never hear things they don't like, we're guessing if they get their way they'll soon find it to be a very confining and uncomfortable space.

Case in point: at one "safe space" rally, an Asian student said she'd been racially harassed by a black male and rescued by the intervention of a white woman. She was booed, in the alleged "safe space," when she said that blacks, like anyone else, are capable of racism and nobody should be judged by the color of their skin.

Perhaps it's just as well that Martin Luther King didn't live to visit a modern college campus. It would be a shame for him to get his ass kicked by bigoted young thugs protecting their "safe space."

Slings and Narrows

Monday's meeting between Barack Obama and Bibi Netanyahu reminded us of the old joke about the tragedy associated with a performance of "Our American Cousin" at Ford's Theater: "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the show?"

Because that was the same kind of wildly dismissive, "ignoring the elephant in the room" remark that B. Hussein made to the press about his summit with Netanyahu. Referring to his preposterous deal which in no way reduces the risk of Iran developing nuclear weapons with which to wipe Israel off the map, the president said "It’s no secret the Prime Minister and I have had a strong disagreement on this narrow issue."

Of course, there are a few other little "narrow" issues where the two leaders don't quite see eye to eye. Like the creation of a Palestinian state within Israel's borders, labeling Israelis as "terrorists" for defending themselves against a recent wave of knife attacks on civilians, and Obama's agreement to help defend Iran in case any other country (we wonder who?) might attack their nuclear enrichment or weapons development facilities.

All of this considered, we're not exactly sure what areas the two leaders do agree on, other than the fact (grudgingly admitted by Obama) that the Holocaust actually occured.

Or "Holocaust One" as it may eventually be known.

BONUS: HANDS UP, DON'T LUBE

Following racial protests which forced the resignation of Missouri University President Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin, both of whom were just dripping with evil, irredeemable white privilege, the University Police are taking bold steps to restore order, get the black members of the football team to suit up again (really), and save the life of a valiant black grad student who went on a hunger strike for almost a week. Which, technically, is more of a diet than hunger strike.

Specifically, the University Police have issued a campus wide call for students to contact them immediately in case they are exposed, or even feel they are exposed, to "hateful or hurtful speech." The police are asking for descriptions, license plate numbers and, if possible, photographs of anyone suspected of saying something which is potentially hurtful.

While hurtful speech has not been specifically defined (indeed, it depends entirely on the "feelings" of the aggrieved party) it presumably will bring a halt to use of the n-word, words beginning with any other offensive eurocentric consonants, and professors giving "hurtful" grades or homework assignments. Tragically, the police crackdown also likely spells the end of "yo mama" jokes on campus, but you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

These policies, and others like them, are part of a comprehensive effort to increase the diversity of  the faculty and staff of Missouri University which, unconscionably, consisted almost entirely of people who were not insane.

LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST...

It's a bit disorienting shifting gears from talking about mendacious politicians and aggrieved collegiate crybabies to trying - trying - to properly honor our nation's veterans on this very special day.

We're writing these words while taking a break between Presidential debates, and are keenly aware that the only reason we have good men and women on that stage talking about our nation's future is because of the great gifts our veterans have given us - the freedom and liberties which they continue to defend every day.

We humbly thank all who have served. You are the best of us.

Pipe Dreams Revisited

Readers- The cartoon and commentary below are from four years ago, showing just how long Obama has been stalling on the Keystone XL pipeline until finally killing it last week. He did so not because it would cause environmental harm (the State Department determined it wouldn't), and not because it wouldn't produce jobs (it would have produced plenty), but because he thought approving it would have made him look like less of a "leader" when he goes to Paris to conspire with the other anti-capitalists in the climate change club. What a schmendrick...

Only a few short weeks ago, a wee-wee'd up Barack Obama called a joint session of congress, told them that he had a plan for creating jobs, and demanded loudly (and repeatedly) that they "pass it now!"

Which is why it's more than a little jaw-dropping that this same president has taken a look at a plan to create thousands of new high-paying jobs which wouldn't cost taxpayers a penny...and decided to "pass on it now."

The Keystone XL project would build a pipeline to bring oil to the United States from lovable, maple-syrup distilling, beaver-pelt wearing Canada instead of sending our oil money to the "Death to America" lunatics in the Middle East... thereby giving us more of that "energy independence" that Mr. Obama usually can't shut up about, while creating jobs out the wazoo.

But despite the president's usual dedication to "the fierce urgency of now," he's decided to postpone a decision on the pipeline until
after the next election...for fear of losing the votes of environmentalists who are terrified of long pipes for reasons only their Freudian psychoanalysts can understand.

And he's softened the blow by implying that Americans really wouldn't be up to the job of building the pipeline anyway...recently referring to us as soft, lazy, and lacking in the will and imagination to tackle "big jobs."

Unfortunately, Canada can't afford to wait to sell their oil...and so they're preparing to sell it to
China instead. Which will be disastrous for the environment that Mr. Obama claims to be so concerned about...and probably disastrous for the United States since China is devoting a lot of their energy use these days to building up their military.

But the job of the president is to make tough decisions, and Obama has decided that his re-election is
far more important than jobs, energy, or national security.

And unsurprisingly, he didn't find it a tough decision at all.

While controversial, the president's decision is not altogether unpopular.

BONUS: THIRD DEGREE BERNIE - CLARIFICATION

Bernie is trying to walk back his keister-kissing debate pronouncement about Hillary's email scandal, now saying that it's absolutely appropriate for her to be investigated. So just what was he trying to say...?
